Q: What legal considerations do I need to keep in mind?

A: With songs, it is always smart to copyright your work so nobody can recreate something you wrote and/or produced without penalty. Also, as an artist, is it wise to have a legal contract (Rider) for someone wanting to book you for a live performance. Keeping simple steps like these will help your carrier to be much smoother.

Q: What goes into making a music video?

A: Music videos are proven to get the attention of your fans very effectively. It can be somewhat of an investment, but as a recording artist, very worth the exposure. The process of a video takes a few steps to execute, and organization is key. The three main things to think about after picking the song is: shot locations, props/extras, and storyboard. Not all videos have to be complex, but having a solid vision for the video is key. We assist in the visual aspect and can help guide you through each step of the process.

Q: What is your involvement as far as direction, producing, and managing?

A: We are not a managing company, but we can advise and assist you with our twenty-two years of experience in the music business. As for direction and producing, we can be as hands-on or hands-off as you allow. Some artists are seeking more guidance while others have what they want already in mind. Both types of artists are equally as welcome. For artists seeking more guidance, I would recommend our Artist Development plans which are geared toward developing one or more areas that may be a challenge for that particular artist.

Q: What is your experience in the music industry?

A: I have been an artist for about twenty-two years and a producer for around thirteen years. I have released music that has charted on a national level, and have worked with charting artists as well. Madik Innovation has produced many songs that have gained national recognition as well as received multi New Mexico Music Awards over the last ten years and many other nominations, some as recent as 2015. We have worked with, been hired by, and collaborated with many artists and national recording labels like Reach Records, Humble Beast, and Save The City.

Q: Can you accommodate for my genre of music?

A: Yes, absolutely! We pride ourselves on being a versatile production company. We have worked with all kinds of genres including, rock, pop, hip-hop, electronic dance music, bluegrass, Irish folk, spoken word, R&B, and more. If you can play it, we can record it to the highest standards. NOTE: We know that not all artists are at the same level of excellence and professionalism, and we cannot make singers or musicians better than they are, resulting in a lower industry standard and will not take responsibility for those situations.

TOP

Q: Do you have capabilities for CD printing or are the end products all digital?

A: We do not do CD printing in-house, but we can recommend businesses that we have worked with. Digital releases are much more popular and also much more cost effective. In our Artist Development, we walk you through each step of releasing a song digitally and even physical releases as well.

TOP

Q: Can I get on a payment plan instead of paying up front?

A: Yes! In our Artist Development program, it is a monthly charge for the duration of time, making is much easier to afford. Payments for other services we take case by case, and depending on if we are running a special at the time.

What's included with a recording session? Is there a minimum or maximum amount of time?

A: Recording sessions are typically for tracking vocals, instruments, mixing, and editing. One hour is the minimum for booking studio time.

TOP

Q: How quickly could I record a song and have a finished product? What's the turnaround?

A: It is extremely hard to give an accurate estimate on how fast you might get a song done. It honestly depends on you, and how prepared you are before you come in, as well as the complexity of the production (soloist, single guitar, full band, etc.) which will play a big part in the time needed to complete.

TOP

Q: How long does it take to get scheduled?

A: Scheduling doesn't take long at all. A simple call, or filling out a form in CONTACT US section will get you right in to book your session. We are proactive to responding and making sure you are a priority.

TOP

Q: Where is Madik Innovation located?

A: We are located on 4301 Carlisle Blvd NE, Albuquerque New Mexico. We require an appointment to see the studio and/or for sessions. Walk-ins are not allowed.

TOP

Q: Why should I choose Madik Innovation over another studio?

A: We hold high standards, not based off of the local scene, but off of a national industry standard. Our recording equipment, microphones, and preamps meet or exceed industry standards. Experience is everything, mixed with passion, and you will quickly see why we have a great track record amongst our competitors. Our facility was built for artists, resulting in maximum workflow and concentration, and an isolation booth built for maximum clarity and detail. You will quickly see why we are regarded as one of the best recording studios in all of the Southwest.

TOP

Q: How do I get on your website?

A: The entire idea behind our website is to support artists that have worked with us, and are what you would call a "Regular." When you invest in your carrier, we want to support that. By working with us, through Artist Development, a studio hour package, or a commitment to a song or project, you would be placed under the Frequent Artist section. This includes a personal profile and premium features like "Contact Me" and "Book Me" options, with a nicely set up page containing a bio, current releases, and options of releasing music exclusively from our site.

TOP

Q: Do you have work/intern opportunities at Madik Innovation?

A: As a growing company we know that expanding is a part of growth, so there are different seasons we will call for interns as well as listen to potential partnerships if it fits the vision and provides growth for Madik Innovation. Fill a CONTACT US form if you would like to inquire more about this and help us to know who you are.

TOP

Q: Do you sign artists, are you a label?

A: We have gotten this question a lot as Madik has owned and partnered with labels in the past, but simply put, Madik Innovation is not a record label. Madik Innovation is an innovative recording studio with lots of experience and features that can look like what a label does. We are a "artist first" kind of company, where labels are "label first."

TOP

Q: Are you a booking agency and can you help with getting shows?

A: We are not a booking agency, but we know how hard it is being an independent artist dealing with venues and trying to get booked without getting taken advantage of. So if you are an artist that is currently working with us, in your personal artist page you will have a "Book Me" button that we can help you develop. This is called an "artist rider." A rider is a set of requests or demands that a performer sets as criteria for performance. Types of riders include hospitality and technical. So, we can help you by being the middle man, and a more professional way to engage a potential venue or promotion.
